September 2011

On the ocasion of Durga Pujo, new clothes were distibuted to the extremely poor people - this is an annual event and is called  "Bastrodan". New clothes wre distributed to about 2200 needy villagers from 60 villages.

March 2011

Model Village Health program under the aegis of IISCO CSR program completed providing treatement to 30208 patients through 419 clinics during the period June 2010 to March 2011 in the villages around Burnpur, Asansol. The team delievering this service consisted of 2 doctors, 1 pharmacist, 1 lab technician, 2 trained attendants.

February 2011

A residential hostel for trainees at RUDSETI has become operational. This facility provides residentail accomodation for 35 trainees. With the setting up of this facility RUDSETI trainees - can participate and make the most of the programs (as their programs are typically of 2-3 weeks duration)

Shamayita Math hospital has been recognized as a unit for delivering services to patients under the Rashtriya Swasthya BIma Yojana (RSBY) under the Ministry of Labour and Employment - Govt. of India.

Shamayita Sports Academy - to train the rural boys and girls in sports started. Initial enrolment for the coaching camp is from 198 rural boys and girls.

Kherwal Tukou - the Annual Tribal Meet steps into its 15th Year

Kherwal Tukou was celebrated for 2 days on the 31st December and 1st January. On the first day dance performance was made by the different teams from villages Shiulibona, Bonpara, Tursa, Poragala, Boragara, Harekrishnapur, Haribhanga, Gidhuria, Suabasa, and Gururbasa villages. The rare dances like Baha, Jatur, Saharai, Lat balang, Dang and Dasai were performed . The main function on 1st January, 2011 started with “Setah Sagun Sangar” an organized rally in which every villager participated walking in a rhythmic steps with song and music in praise of their Lord-“Dharti Baba”. This was followed by dance Rinja from Shiulibona, Karam from Birbhum,Sarpa from Chandapathar (Ranibandh), Saharai & Baha from Malda & Piardoba, Ranpa& Tusu from Khatra. The special dance which left the 20,000 audience spell bound was Karam from Birbhum and two tribal dance- Tamudia Krishna and Rukmar Nach from Orissa.

Inpatient Wing of Hospital is Operational

The indoor department started its services full phase from December’ 2010. A full fledged Medical team comprising of RMOs, Nursing staff, attendants and  OT staff taje care of the operations.

Specialists on call include  – Gynecologist, Anesthetist, Child Specialist, Physical Medicine, Orthopedics, Eye Surgeon, ENT Surgeon , Chest Specialist, Dermatologist, Psycreatist, Radiologist, and Pathologist,

Surgeries being carried out include Hydrocele, Hernia, Gallbladder , Brest Tumour, Piles, Vasectomy, ovary cyst,etc

November 2010

Amader Swasthya" (Our Health) a outdoor healthcare program launched across 12 villages under the sponsorship of the CSR program of La Farge India.

This program has two basic operations; Awareness generation through a package of programmes like skits, movies, school health programmes, health talk shows and so on for developing response towards health seeking behaviour and providing preventive and basic curative medical service through our  Mobile Van.  To enhance community participation Village Health Workers have been selected from each 12 villages that will be major instrument for implanting the project at the grass root level.
